David Freitas, now

The Nationals and A's exchanged catchers on Friday, with Oakland dealing big league veteran Kurt Suzuki to Washington for former Elk Grove High School and CRC star David Freitas.
The Nationals took Freitas in the 15th round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft. The 23-year-old has spent this season at High Class A Potomac, hitting .271 with a .780 OPS, five home runs and 46 RBIs.
Entering Friday, Suzuki was hitting .218 with a .536 OPS and one home run this season, his sixth with the A's. But the 28-year-old leads qualified American League catchers with a .996 fielding percentage and a 38.3 caught stealing percentage.

Freitas has been assigned to the A's Double-A affiliate in Midland, Tex.
